Professional Bodies – Caroline Ward Goldsmith

As a discipline psychology has evolved over time and there are as many opinions as to what constitutes good practice as their are psychologists.  Professional bodies have codes of practice and ethics that make for better practice. Discussing Professional Bodies –  Caroline Ward Goldsmith has long been of the opinion that membership of professional bodies is important but it must also go hand in hand with experience and professional bodies also recognise this. Psychology as the study of the human mind, psyche and behaviour has a long history. Rooted in philosophy and science, the history of psychology encompasses many discoveries and theories that have helped shape our understanding of human behaviour. The effects of some of these psychological discoveries have an impact on our everyday lives, sometimes in surprising ways. Psychology has evolved in many ways over the last 150 years and continues to evolve today.
