Caroline has been in the psychology field for over 20 years as a professional gaining a vast body of experience in neurodiversity. Many problems need to be resolved to serve this community well. “The times are changing from how it was when I was just starting out way back then” she said. Practitioners have sometimes kept pace with researchers and sometimes not. The practitioner researcher model is important to promote as practice is very different from working in a research facility or university. Through effective use of practice and research we can gain a more rounded picture to serve the community’s needs and further our understanding of mental health. Positive psychology has taught us that not only is the mind capable of healing and changing itself but is capable of feats of achievement and optimisation we have yet to understand.
